Support Matthew’s new book

You’ll be hearing more about this at the top of Thursday’s episode, but if you haven’t already pledged to Matthew’s Kickstarter, it’s not too late. His new book, Pretty Good Number One: An American Family Eats Tokyo, will be out this summer as an ebook and audiobook. He’s already raised enough to pay for editing, cover design, and a website, but is just a handful of pledges away from being able to go on book tour and sleep on your couch, just like you always wanted.

Pledge now

The Kickstarter will be over on Thursday, March 14, and then we’ll stop bugging you about this until the book comes out, at which point we’ll resume bugging you. Thank you! Spilled Milk listeners have already been very generous, so if you’ve already donated, ignore this plea and enjoy Thursday’s banana episode.

P.S. I followed your backed projects and saw John Vanderslice’s project and backed that too. Back in 1998 or so, the band I was in recorded an EP at Tiny Telephone. It was with Greg Freeman, though, not John.

Thanks so much, Steve. That’s awesome about recording at Tiny Telephone. JV is one of my all-time favorite artists; Molly can vouch that when she arrives to tape an episode, I’m blasting JV at least 50% of the time.

    Hello hello,

So I’m sure this is weird because you guys don’t know me from a doll-crazed-psycho-cat-lady but I feel like I know you so if your book tour brings you to the Denver/Boulder metro area and you really are doing it couch-surfing style you would be welcome to our spare bed. Just a thought.

Thanks very much, Anne–no Misery intent taken. The book tour details won’t be taking shape until after the Kickstarter is done, but I will absolutely be doing it couch-surfing style, so if I make it to Denver, your spare bed is tops on my list. I appreciate the support!
